Lexington boasts a very fine country club with a swimming pool, an
excellent 9-hole golf course and a modern clubhouse. The city operates
a playground and recreation park with lighted basketball courts,
lighted ball fields, swimming pool, tennis and volleyball courts, a
rodeo arena and in-line skating hockey.
The Lexington-Henderson
County Fair is an annual event held each September. The only fair in
Tennessee with free admission, it is extremely popular and highly
attended. Other annual events in Lexington include: Freedom Day Lake
Festival, held at Beech Lake in May; National Championship Rodeo,
held at Guy B. Amis City Park in August; and National Drag Boat
Races, held at Beech Lake in August.
One of the world's finest fishing and water skiing areas, Kentucky
Lake, is but a short drive over fine highways from Lexington (20
miles). The lake is rapidly developing into one of the best
migratory waterfowl hunting areas in the state. Beautiful Shiloh
National Park, a famous Civil War Battleground, is located on
Kentucky Lake south of Lexington. Parker's Crossroads Battlefield is
11 miles north.
Natchez Trace State Park, the State's largest and most visited park,
is just 6 miles northeast of Lexington. The park was named for the
important wilderness road that ran between Nashville and Natchez, MS,
in the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The park covers over 46,000 acres and

Conservation. The park's Pin Oak Lodge provides accommodations, a
160-seat restaurant, swimming pool, tennis, a new campground and
equestrian center.
The Beech River Watershed Development
lakes provide 100 miles of shoreline and public recreation facilities
including a concession-bathhouse, sand beach, concrete launching ramp,
camping, fishing, swimming, hunting and more.
Henderson County is a half-hour drive
from Jackson, and is midway between Memphis and Nashville, all home to
many outstanding recreational, entertainment and cultural attractions.
